What a removal in Camberwell actually involves

Two councils, one neighbourhood
Camberwell sits across a borough line. Around the Green, Camberwell Grove and towards Peckham you are usually in Southwark; out west towards Myatt’s Fields, Coldharbour Lane and Loughborough Junction it is often Lambeth. Most residential streets on both sides are controlled parking zones, and a van can only sit in a permit bay legally with a parking suspension from whichever council runs the street. We check which side the address falls on, then apply well ahead of the day.
The five roads that meet at the Green
Camberwell Road, Camberwell New Road, Denmark Hill, Camberwell Church Street and Peckham Road all run into the junction by the Green. Stretches of the main roads carry red-route and bus-lane restrictions, so stopping a removal van outside the door is often simply not allowed. We almost never load on them. The van goes round the corner into a side street and the carry is planned from there.
Steps, basements and period staircases
The Georgian houses on Camberwell Grove and Grove Lane often have steep front steps, a basement area behind railings and a narrow turning staircase inside. Big sofas and wardrobes sometimes need to come apart or go out a different way, and we would rather know that from the survey than discover it on the landing.
Estates, lifts and fob doors
On the bigger estates, including Elmington and the blocks off Wyndham Road and towards the Brandon, the move depends on the lift working, a fob for the main door and somewhere to stand the van that is not a fire route.
